Start a rewarding health care career by enrolling in the Dental Assistance program at CDI College. In the Dental Assistance program, you will develop a fundamental understanding of the role of the dental assistant and the broad knowledge base and skill set required to work in this career field. You will study Oral Anatomy, Pharmacology and Lesions and Oral Diseases. You will learn about hygiene and asepsis, oral treatments, and how to work with assorted dental materials.
In addition, you will also learn about professional ethics and interpersonal communication. First aid and occupational health and safety are also covered. You will also learn to work effectively in a dental lab and in various chair-side assistance roles, including operative dentistry, orthodontics and pedodontics. To complete the Dental Assistance program, you must participate in 90 hours of practicum where you will learn to be dental office team member and carry out the day-to-day tasks of a dental assistant.
